From a new Darwin real estate agency to an award winning agency in our first year

What a year.

Monsoon Real Estate is incredibly proud to have been named Small Residential Agency of the Year at the 2026 Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory Awards for Excellence.

For us, this award means far more than a trophy.

Monsoon Real Estate was created with a very simple idea. We wanted to build a real estate agency that did things differently.

An agency that was genuinely personal.

An agency where clients could call and speak directly with the people responsible for their property.

An agency that worked hard, communicated constantly, invested in its clients and remembered that behind every property transaction there are real people making some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

To receive one of the Northern Territory real estate industry’s major agency awards in our first year of operation is something we are extremely proud of.

But more than anything, it tells us that the approach we believed in from day one is working.

An incredible first year for Monsoon Real Estate

When Monsoon Real Estate launched, we were the new agency in Darwin.

We didn’t have decades of agency history behind the Monsoon name.

We didn’t have a huge team.

We didn’t set out to become the biggest agency in the Northern Territory.

We simply wanted to create an agency we would personally want to deal with.

Fast forward through our first year and the growth has exceeded anything we could have imagined.

During our first year of operation, Monsoon Real Estate achieved 150+ property sales while achieving a 100% clearance rate across signed sales listings.

Our average days on market across that period was just seven days.

At the same time, we launched our property management division which has had incredible success.

Those numbers are something we are immensely proud of.

But they aren’t the part of the business we are proudest of.

The biggest achievement has been building Monsoon largely through repeat business, referrals and people recommending us to their friends and family.

That means everything to us.

Because you don’t get referrals simply by putting a sold sticker on a signboard.

You get them by answering the phone.

By following up when you say you will.

By being honest when the conversation is difficult.

By fighting for another $5,000 or $10,000 when negotiating someone’s property.

By treating a $400,000 property with the same importance as a $1 million property.

And by remembering that while we may sell properties every week, our clients might only sell a home a handful of times in their entire lives.

REINT Best Small Residential Agency of the Year 2026

Being named the 2026 REINT Best Small Residential Agency of the Year is recognition that we are incredibly grateful to receive.

The Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory Awards for Excellence recognise achievement across the NT property industry, including residential sales, property management, commercial real estate and agency performance.

For Monsoon Real Estate to be recognised alongside established businesses and professionals from across the Territory, after only our first year in the industry, is something we certainly don’t take for granted.

When we started Monsoon, being a small agency was never something we saw as a limitation.

It was actually the entire point.

We wanted to stay close to our clients.

We wanted decisions to be made quickly.

We wanted owners to know exactly who was selling or managing their property.

We wanted to be able to adapt quickly instead of working through layers of management and corporate processes.

And we wanted every client to feel like their property mattered.

Winning Small Residential Agency of the Year reinforces something we have believed since the beginning.

Small can be powerful.

A different approach to real estate in Darwin

Darwin is a relatively small community.

Reputation matters.

Results matter.

And how you treat people matters even more.

Our philosophy from the beginning has been that if we look after people properly, work incredibly hard and consistently deliver, the business will take care of itself.

That philosophy has shaped the way Monsoon approaches real estate sales across Darwin and Palmerston.

We don’t believe selling a property should simply mean putting it online and waiting for enquiries.

It means understanding where the property sits in the market.

It means choosing the right pricing strategy.

It means presenting the property properly.

It means creating competition where possible.

It means working our buyer database.

It means calling buyers.

Following up every inspection.

Having the difficult conversations when they are required.

Negotiating hard.

And continuing to push until we genuinely believe we have achieved the strongest possible outcome for our owner.

Sometimes that also means putting our own money behind a campaign.

We have regularly invested in marketing for our clients because we believe that when an agent has some skin in the game, our interests are aligned.

If we are asking someone to trust us with one of their biggest assets, we should be prepared to back ourselves too.

More than 150 property sales in our first year

One of the biggest surprises for us has been how quickly Darwin and Palmerston property owners embraced Monsoon.

Across our first year we completed 150+ property sales throughout Darwin, Palmerston and surrounding suburbs.

We have sold everything from apartments and investment properties through to family homes and prestige residential property.

Our sales have taken us across suburbs including Darwin City, Larrakeyah, Fannie Bay, Parap, Stuart Park, Nightcliff, Rapid Creek, Durack, Zuccoli, Rosebery, Driver, Gunn, Bakewell, Moulden, Gray, Wanguri, Tiwi, Leanyer and many more communities throughout the Top End.

That volume of transactions has also given us something extremely valuable.

Current market knowledge.

We are constantly speaking with Darwin buyers.

We know what they are responding to.

We know when a price point is generating enquiry.

We know when buyers are pushing back.

We know what properties are competing against each other.

And importantly, we know that no two campaigns are exactly the same.

There is no magic formula for selling property.

There is preparation, strategy, communication, negotiation and hard work.

Building one of Darwin’s fastest growing property management portfolios

Sales has only been one part of the Monsoon story.

Our property management division was established with exactly the same philosophy.

Keep it personal.

Communicate.

Look after the property.

Look after the landlord.

Treat tenants fairly.

And don’t allow property management to become a numbers game where owners feel like another property in a portfolio of hundreds.

Growth happened overwhelmingly through relationships, referrals and property owners choosing to move their investment properties to Monsoon.

For us, that’s another strong indication that Darwin property owners want something different.

They want accessibility.

They want accountability.

And they want to know who is actually looking after their investment.

Local people. Local business. Local knowledge.

Monsoon Real Estate is proudly Darwin based.

This isn’t simply a market we work in.

It’s home.

We understand the Darwin and Palmerston property markets because we are involved in them every single day.

We’re speaking with buyers.

We’re meeting sellers.

We’re managing investment properties.

We’re attending open homes.

We’re negotiating contracts.

We’re seeing what is selling and, just as importantly, what isn’t.

That local knowledge becomes incredibly important when someone asks us one of the most common questions in real estate:

What is my property actually worth?

The answer can’t come from an automated estimate alone.

It needs to consider recent comparable sales, current competition, buyer sentiment, property presentation, location and what is happening in the market right now.

That is why our advice will always be straight.

Sometimes the answer will be exactly what an owner wants to hear.

Sometimes it won’t.

But we would rather have an honest conversation at the beginning than make a promise simply to win a listing.

The people behind Monsoon Real Estate

Monsoon has always been about people before property.

Joshua and Kelly Pucci built Monsoon Real Estate around the belief that clients deserved a more personal real estate experience.

Josh brought more than 20 years of sales experience into the business, while Kelly has played an enormous role across both the sales and property management sides of the agency.

Together, the goal has always been simple.

Work hard.

Be available.

Do what you say you’re going to do.

And treat people’s property as though it were your own.

As Monsoon continues to grow, protecting that culture will remain one of our biggest priorities.

Growth is great.

But we never want growth to come at the expense of the service that created it.

Thank you Darwin

An award like this doesn’t belong to an agency alone.

It belongs to the people who backed it.

To every owner who trusted a new agency with the sale of their home.

To every landlord who trusted us with their investment property.

To every buyer who purchased a property through Monsoon.

To everyone who referred a friend, family member or colleague to us.

To every person who left a review.

To our suppliers, photographers, conveyancers, tradespeople and everyone else behind the scenes.

And to the people who told us when we started Monsoon that Darwin needed an agency like this.

Thank you.

There are much easier industries to enter than real estate.

Building a brand from nothing isn’t easy either.

But the support Monsoon has received from the Darwin and Palmerston community during our first year has been unbelievable.

Being named REINT Small Residential Agency of the Year 2026 is something we’ll always remember.

So, what comes next for Monsoon Real Estate?

We’re only getting started.

Winning an award doesn’t change how we’re going to operate.

If anything, it raises the standard we expect from ourselves.

We want to continue building one of the strongest independent real estate businesses in the Northern Territory while keeping the things that made Monsoon successful in the first place.

Personal service.

Straight advice.

Strong communication.

Hard work.

Smart marketing.

Strong negotiation.

And genuine accountability for the result.

We don’t necessarily want to be the biggest agency in Darwin.

We want to be the agency people recommend.

There is a big difference.

And if we keep doing right by people, we believe everything else will follow.
